George was born and raised in British Columbia and graduated in 1979 with a B.A. from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. He established a film/video production business there which specialized in corporate communications for resource-based industries. He has travelled widely, living and working in Africa, Australia and different centers in Canada. After becoming the Director of all telecommunications and broadcasting policy for a state government in Australia at the age of 30, he helped develop and operate two retail outlets. Then he worked 4 years with the federal government in Ottawa before starting his private practice.
