Overview
Doug Bradley is President of Climate Change Solutions, a global consulting firm incorporated and successfully run since 2002. His clients stretch across Europe, the US and Canada, and include Essent Energie (Netherlands), Raedthuys (Netherlands), IEA Bioenergy (France), Bioverda (Ireland), Dynamotive Energy, JD Irving, Tembec, Nexfor and Environment Canada. He has undertaken major studies on; European markets for wood pellets and BioOil, supply chain competitiveness for Canadian bioenergy products, a national approach for a Renewable Portfolio Standards, a mill residue inventory for Eastern Canada, barriers to cogeneration in pulp and paper mills, and a company carbon plan. He delivered presentations on bioenergy and climate change issues from Australia- New Zealand, to Rome, Berlin, Edinburgh, Brazil, Netherlands, Finland, Sweden and a host of other countries. He specializes in project development.
After a tenure as VP Finance of the Canadian Bioenergy Association, Doug took over as President in June 2007. He subsequently delivered the largest, most successful conference in CanBio history, drawing participants from 10 countries to a 3-day business-to-business event in Toronto, which included a tour of the world’s largest pyrolysis oil plant. Recognizing regional variations in biomass and approaches to bioenergy, he restructured CanBio on a regional basis, and expanded the Board of Directors, brought in Public Relations capability, and is undertaking a major membership drive. He is now shaping CanBio into a more effective association to maximize bioenergy development.
Doug is respected as a visionary with a passion for solving business issues at the grassroots level, while maintaining a strategic and global perspective. He acquired varied experience over 30 years in increasingly senior positions in the forest products industry in Ottawa, finance on Bay St, and oil & gas in Calgary, with industry policy in government rounding out his experience. As Director, Strategic Planning for EB Eddy Forest Products Ltd he developed annual business plans, evaluated acquisitions up to $1.5 billion, and initiated lumber exports to Japan. With CIBC he advised senior management on major investments including a New York City trading centre and a national ATM strategy. With Gulf Canada he prepared capital investment reviews for the Gulf Board of Directors and developed financial strategies.
Doug’s academic achievements include an MBA from the top-ranked University of Western Ontario (now Richard Ivey School of Business) graduating in the top quartile, and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Mathematics from Queens University.
